Mission Statement

Lakeway Eye Physicians and Surgeons was started by Dr. Corina Stancey to bring a modern comprehensive Ophthalmology practice to Lakeway and the surrounding areas. We focus on providing the highest level of individualized patient care that fosters not only ocular health but also encourages the overall health of the patient. We strive to employ the newest technology and surgical techniques to help preserve vision.

Corina A. Stancey, M.D.

Dr. Stancey graduated cum laude from Bucknell University and with honors from the Medical College of Ohio. She went on to complete her Ophthalmology residency at Boston University, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Stancey also completed fellowship training in Oculoplastics at the University of Montreal. She practiced in Massachusetts for several years before moving to Austin to be closer to her family.

Dr. Stancey is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Association, Texas Ophthalmological Association and the Austin Ophthalmological Association. Outside of her active medical career, Dr. Stancey enjoys traveling, snowboarding, wakeboarding, riding horses and spending time with her four dogs!

Emily Simonek, O.D.

Dr. Emily Simonek is originally from Big Spring, Texas. She then moved to Austin and received her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas in 2005. She received her doctorate from The University of Houston - College of Optometry in 2009. While in optometry school, Dr. Simonek was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and was her class representative for 2 years. Her externship experience included primary vision care and contact lens fittings, co-management of cataract surgeries and the treatment of ocular diseases, including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Since graduation, Dr. Simonek has been practicing full scope optometry in Austin and is excited to join Lakeway Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Simonek is licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and is an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. She is also currently a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, and the Central Texas Optometric Society.

In her spare time, Dr. Simonek enjoys cooking, kickboxing, traveling, Longhorn football, and spending time with her family and friends!

 

Our Staff

Amy Harlan - Optician

Amy has been in the optical industry for more than 22 years. Her experience as an Optician ranges from small private practice to multi store, superstore, and field management. She has enjoyed overseeing both retail and manufacturing operations and brings with her a vast array of optical expertise. As the daughter of an Air Force Colonel, she traveled quite a bit growing up and attended Virginia Commonwealth University for Commercial Art and Graphic Design. She eventually made her home in Philadelphia and found her way to Austin 11 years ago. When not working, Amy loves to spend time with friends and family, and is a fan of a good book and a glass of vino. Her two sons, ages 15 and 4 keep her very busy and endlessly entertained.We are sad to say that Amy's Rottweiler rescue, Cupcake, lost her battle with liver failure on 11-3-11. Thank you to all of our patients who gave her so much love while she was in the office for 3 weeks. Amy is currently fostering Eli, another Rottie Rescue mix puppy. There are suspicions that Amy and her family have already fallen in love with Eli, and he will most likely become a permanent part of the family! Believe it or not, Walter, the tabby cat is excited about the new addition!

 

Tracey Cribb - Front Office Manager

Tracey was born and raised in Southern California and has worked alongside other Ophthalmologists for over sixteen years. She and her husband moved to Lakeway in 2006 with their two dogs and cat to be closer to her daughter and her husband's family. She enjoys home improvement projects, decorating, gardening and walking her dogs in Lakeway Park.

Sandra Doxey - Billing Specialist

Sandra was born and raised in South Louisiana (a true Cajun) who after spending the last 15 years in Dallas made the move to Austin. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas at Dallas and has been with an alternative medicine facility for the last 10 years. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, reading, exploring new recipes and places, etc.

 

Valarie Young - Ophthalmic Technician

Valarie was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She graduated cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She moved to Houston for a few years before deciding to come back home to Austin. Outside of work, Valarie loves playing the cello, live music, barbecues, and having fun with her dogs Stella and Dallas.

Marisa Polviriyakij - Ophthalmic Technician

Marisa is a native Texan who moved to Austin in 2001. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas State University. She has been working as a technician for eye doctors since 2003. In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies, the outdoors, and relaxing with her family, friends, and two cats, Hopper and Jet.
