›› Cataract Evaluation and Surgery

Each complete eye examination with Dr. Stancey involves a dilation of the pupils. With this, she can examine the inside of the eye as well as determine if a cataract is present. The cataract's impact to vision can be determined and an appropriate recommendation for or against surgical treatment can be made. Dr. Stancey employs the latest surgical technique for cataract surgery using a small incision, no stitch procedure. Ultrasound energy is used to help remove the cataract and a new implant is inserted in its place. This is all done as an outpatient under local anesthesia in a comfortable environment.
